Title: Palletizer Industry: Packaging Components Used: : HLEZ150’s for the X and Y gantry axes. Two HZR100’s for the Z axis. HDY142 and HDY70 motors. P21 Powerstation, SV500, NMD20, 6K4 and associated cables. Other Key Components: Tech Services Competition: A floor mounted heavy duty robotic arm with a 10’ reach (ASEA). |
Application
Description: The customer was looking to add additional palletizing lines to their current operations. The current palletizing system consisted of a robotic arm for lifting boxes off of a conveyor and placing them on a pallet. The current system was expensive and cumbersome. Our challenge was to find a cost effective solution that would have expandability, and be easy to implement. We developed an X-Y-Z gantry system (with a theta axis to be designed and included by the customers engineering department). We provided gearboxes, motors, drives, controller and operator interface for all 4 axes. We were also asked to provide a test system which would be used to prove the concept. |
| Why
was the Parker Solution Chosen? Cross Automation and Parker were chosen because we could provide a complete solution and give the customer the ability to control their project. The Parker products were conducive to their environment, the system price was half the price of one robot and one Parker system could do the job of two robotic arms. We offered a test stand (which they still have), and had the technical support to help provide assistance in the basic programming. The customer was able to attend training classes we provided on programming the 6K and interfacing with the CTC Powerstation. We also provided (with the help from our friends at Sansara), mechanical maintenance training on the HLEZ150 and HZR100 actuators. We were able to provide a solution that would perform the duties required, including specific stacking procedures and cycle times. They also liked the maintainability of the Parker products. The gantry was purchased to cover lines A and B. Line A was initially installed and proven. Line B will be installed at a later date. The HLEZ was a perfect solution to provide for expandability. |
