New Cryogenic Brushless Servo Motors With
Resolver Feedback Rated for operation in extreme cold temperatures
- Cryogenic Series brushless servo
motors with resolver feedback
- Available in standard size 23
(consult for additional sizes)
- Specifically engineered for motion
control applications that require reliable motor operation in
extremely cold conditions
- Field-tested for reliable operation
in temperatures as low as 20 Kelvins, and can potentially operate at
temperatures as low as 0 Kelvins [untested]
- Constructed with special dry
lubrication and exotic chromium-nickel steel alloy components for
compatible thermal expansion characteristics and reduced brittleness
[highly important characteristics for motors that will be subjected
to very cold temperatures]
Standard servo motors are typically rated
for 0° - 100° C operation, but Empire's Cryogenic Motors vastly extend
that operating range for applications such as superconductor research,
observatory instrumentation (e.g. infrared sensor testing)semen storage,
and specialized research in physics and military application.

Weather Resistant Motors Provide Cost
Effective Protection from the Elements
- Provide the protection and reliable
operation required of vehicles and other portable equipment in
outdoor applications, without the high costs often associated with
waterproof or other custom motors
- Anodized aluminum exterior providing
a durable exterior for exposed weather applications
- Designed to withstand the wide range
of temperatures that a vehicle-mounted motor is likely to encounter
between the Artic and the Sahara
- Engineered to handle typical shock
and vibration challenges, but are not tested for submersible
application – applications requiring submersible operation should
consider Empire’s Waterproof series motors

Fully Submersible Step Motors for Marine
and Submarine Applications
- Uniquely designed to provide maximum
operational reliability in marine and submarine applications
- Their internally sealed design
eliminates the corrosion and motor failure problems common to
conventional steppers in fluid processing, washdown and complete
submersion environments.
- Available with feedback resolvers
and conversion electronics, providing quadrature or binary motor
position information
- Available in standard 23, 34 and 42
frame sizes (custom sizes available), with static torque ranging
from 60 to 1600 oz.-in
- Round mounting flanges are standard
to simplify face sealing, while square flanges are available for
compliance with NEMA mounting specifications
- Compatible with most bipolar full
step and microstepping motor drives

Waterproof AC Induction Motors for Exotic, High-End Applications
- Stainless steel enclosed AC
induction motors
- Available in eight standard frame
sizes and provide reliable operation when subjected to frequent
wetting or washdown
- For food service and other washdown
applications where the motor is not normally submerged, the units
are supplied with cooling fans
- For marine or nuclear applications
where submerged motors are cooled by the surrounding water fans are
not supplied, but rather the motors are oil filled and pressure
compensated
- Pressure compensated motors from
Empire Magnetics Inc. have been operating in ocean depths to 2500
ft. Custom versions for use in reactor pools have also been produced
